Biology (5th Edition)

Ever time I see this book, a year of terrible memory in AP bio flashes though my eyes:

  • Noisy sound from gerbils eating toilet paper rolls
  • Loads of homework enough to feed everyone in China(over 1 billion population with no life)
  • Questions in the tests designed just for punishment from parents
  • Getting beaten by Katie in every single test1

Recommend to... No one...because...
There is a new edition in the right, Duh...

  1. 1. that's not so bad...it's just one of those inevitable things in life

Google and the myth of universal knowledge : a view from Europe

Dude. I don't know what I read, and I don't care. The point of the book in 2 sentence: Don't let Google do things with only good short term effect. Long term effect is also important.
BTW, the point of the book in 5 words: Don't screw with Jean-Noël Jeanneney

Teach yourself blogging

I try to enjoy this book, but since I'm such a professional blogger, it's just not possible for me to notice the biasness. It's not the book trying to promote only two blog system, blogger and typepad, but there is only step by step tutorials on those two blogs. This is acceptable though, because the book is not intended for those über pros. If I got this book one year ago, I could imagine how helpful this book would be. Recommend for new bloggers or pre-bloggers.

The beauty of fractals : images of complex dynamical systems

The book is over 21 years old when I am writing. The book offers a brief view of the history of fractals and a some explanation of the common fractal systems. The rendered Images are not as good as the ones generated these days, but it is still worth a look if you got this book in the library near you. $84.95 is just too much for a book like that. Not recommended for people under 18 due to the hard to chew mathematical information even a Asian like me have a hard time to grasp the concept.
