Cries.
I only had the VPS for a few days :(
Now I have to reimage it.
Sure, it's my fault for not making it secure, like hackers always say.
Oh wait, doesn't that sound like blaming the victim?
Guess I'm not going to allow root logins from today on. I'm glad the hacker didn't do anything really evil to my VPS, for example, using it for something illegal.
Sup dawg, I heard you like root logins, so I root inside your root so you can cry while you cry.
So many evil people out there doing evil things to me. Everyone is trying to get me. T.T
Now I have to reconsider the idea...should I put my blog on my VPS? It's clearly much more easier to be compromised because I'm no genius at security.
Look at my tid, you will notice I did so little math in such a long time. Oh god. The horror!
Reason being I used these days to do technology related stuff, particularly creating a problem database prototype.
I have always wanted a database of problems where people can refer to them, and create problem sets out of them in a centralized way.
Drupal is really easy to customize, so I made a prototype pretty quickly :)
I'm putting up a demo for everyone at http://pdbdev.mgccl.com soon it will be gone.[It is gone] It is on my VPS from RapidXen. With only 128MB of ram, such a website is pretty hard to sustain. BTW, this site is going to move to that VPS. Before that, I need to find ways to backup and other stuff. Ahh, leet.
I also made a video document what this thing can do, and there are a few more features I want.
Drupal is pretty slow. Thus I'm going to write my own code. If anyone really interested in this project, you can contact me.
But that won't happen before I complete Apostol.
So I had these free magazines shipped from some company.
This this other company Reader's source called me and ask me to pay for them today. so I gave them my credit card number, and also I heard they recorded my message. then they hang up.
I googled, wow, scam.
I lost faith in humanity because my own stupidity. I'm completely ignorant in anything other than things I do. hmmm... that's why I will only do things I do well. Specialization is useful for the economy.
Oh, glad I didn't give them my social security number to people :)
I'm going to cancel my credit card tomorrow and dispute all their charges.
Credits cards are useful, and helped me I have been buying so many things so fast and later regret. I shall go back to credit card less days.
In other news, I got a VPS from RapidXen, I'm going to try see if 128mb ram is enough to get my blog there.
Soon, my hosting account will come to and end, and I think I will move the blog to AN Hosting.
What's really interesting is that, after using Drupal for so long, I start to use less and less of Drupal's most useful functions. Having a more matured view of what this site is about. I want a site that is the aggregation of me. MWHAHAHA, HUGE EGO!
Drupal have exceeded what I want. In fact, it have so many functions it become too hard to modify. I need to read a lot to write my own modification.
I recently reviewed a lot of service from Google, and understand it can replace almost everything I need, completely.
Google Picasa replace my current gallery system.
Google Friend Connect can replace the comment system. or more likely, Google Wave.(of course, it's better to store the comments in the blog)
Blog can be made on Google App Engine
All other apps I made for Google App Engine. (like all my keycounts and chatlogs, no SQL support though.)
I looked over python code and holy crap it's much more concise than C, Java and PHP.
In fact, I just ported my keycounter thing to GAE. Except my keycounter program are one of those programs shouldn't be put on GAE. Why? Because it is only useful if I can write stuff to manipulate the entire set of data, which is over 2000 rows now, and will increase indefinitely. Yes, I need something that I can operate on all the data of a 100MB database at the same time. So now it can only be used as a place to store my data.
cpedia's blog looks pretty awesome, and it's on Google App Engine, see how it works great with all other kind of Google services?
There are, however, some things google can't do. Like a place to store files.
The database Google offers is only 1GB, which is large enough for a blog.
Why not Flickr, Disqus? Google is better because I'm strongly biased, kthxbye.
I must share this link. I'm sure a lot of people know this site already.
Let me google that for you.
I made a Chinese translation for that site a long time ago.
I forgot this site until these days when people start to ask problems that are so easy to answer from Google.
Go use this when ever someone ask one of those common questions.
I don't mind people ask me questions. Especially questions that do require me to think, or things not easily googled. Like "how would you do this problem?", "when will the school play start tomorrow?"(btw I never know when the school play starts).
I don't like to answer to some questions that's perfectly google-able.
It's like asking me "what does this word mean?" when there is a dictionary right beside you.
