Are blog contests healthy?

Sites devoted about sharing contests, like My Blog Contest and The Prize Blog, features more and more blog contests.
The usual blog contests features these few requirements:
1. Blog about the contest with specific anchor text
2. Blog about the blog holding the contest with specific anchor text
3. Comment or use some other form of communication to let the contest creator know

Usually, a blog contest means:
1. More visitors
2. Better ranking in search engines for some specific keywords
3. Some visitors might subscribe to the blog

A huge amount of benefit can be brought of the contest starter.
How about the contestants?
How about the Internet?

The contestants spend one post just to describe a contest to gain a small chance in winning some small price. If the post is unrelated to their blog, some readers of the contestant's blog will not be happy.

The Internet is created for information1. The blog contests is a way to play with the search engine. Contests are bribing bloggers to review their blog, like PayPerPost. Even a small blog with no much potential in some keyword but with high incentive prize, it can be increased in search engine rank. Thus the readers will read some poor quality blog because the blog paid some money for it.
PayPerPost users got punished by Google. Google will figure out a way of attack blog contests.

Blog Action Day-Save the world some electricity, I mean bandwidth

Today is the Blog Action Day, I had to do something to promote environmental awareness(which also promote blog power)... even though it's 9PM and I really should study for the test...
At this age and time, there are massive waste of electricity. The law of physics show it's not possible to have unlimited amount of energy that can do work, please secure the Blessings of Energy to ourselves and our Posterity.

Why should everyone get a own copy of a script instead of fund a server just to serve the most popular javascripts? Someone please establish a trust worthy(no one want to have harmful js on their site) service to provide JQuery, Dojo, YUI and all other Javascript for people to <script src=""> it, see how much bandwidth we can save for the world, most js will be cached by browsers, which, will save electricity, because less data sent (dude... data are sent by signals, signals uses energy).

Save the world by start doing that. [I remeber YUI did it already... don't know if i'm right]

Running out of blogging ideas

No more topic to blog about? everyone have one of those days. A few ways I use when this happens.

1. Stumble around until you find something interesting. Include read the RSS, go though digg.
2. Check your statistics, like the most popular search engine keywords that lead the user into this blog (factorial, eeepc and PHP speed related topics are the ones for me). and you will know what the reader want and write more about it.
3. Summarize, compare a range of items in a particular field.
4. Write a post about "running out of blogging ideas"
5. Forget your blog. read and comment on someone else's blog.

iCalvyn.com should have more visitors

Calvyn's a blogger who owns iCalvyn.com. I met him on ReviewBack, a platform for poor bloggers pay other bloggers a review back instead of paying other bloggers money to get a review. This is the first review back I write, because most other blogs in ReviewBack have nothing to do with my blog, and so is this one. Calvyn's offer of a free domain baited me out. (Me work for money... What a LOSER!)

iCalvyn.com similar to my site, not in topic, but the "not so perfect" English.
His blog is the first blog activates my emotion "LOL" this month--in his FAQ section, the most standing out sentence "I am also a part time webmaster cum1 blogger." I thought people don't use Latin anymore, guess I'm wrong.
"i wil try my best to fins out the solution and posted in my blog."
Fins out...use nouns as verb = cool2 Initial thought after reading that part:
Calvyn swimming inside a pool of information tries to catch the solution.
Sometimes, non-perfect English actually makes sense.

Look though the grammatic errors on his blog(and mine), digested information hid beneath. Topics from B(Blogging Tips & Tools) to W(Webmastering), covering Software, Graphic Design, Operating System even Photography, and many post are organized into seasons (unique name for post extend another post). I strongly believe this blog should get much more attention from the public, come on, make the reader count to 50!

  1. 1. Latin for "with", usually only used on stoke fields, like cum dividend and cum rights.
  2. 2. Google: Just Google it.
WoW: Don't IM me while I'm WoWing.
    Halo: Halo.
