A: matrix A and B are n * n matrices
A: AB = A +B
A: prove AB = BA
B: lets seee
B: well
B: hmm
B: A(B-1) = B
B: B(A-1) = A
B: B(A-1)(B-1) = B
B: so B could be the null matrix implying so is A and obviously AB = BA
B: else
B: (A-1)(B-1) = I
B: AB - B - A + 1 = I
B: AB + 1 = I + A + B
B: 1 = I
B: which obviously isnt true
B: so only solution is A = B = null matrix?
B: my linear algebra sucks so its possible i made some stupid mistakes in there
B: yeah i must have made some mistakes
B: xDDDDD
A: lol
A: 1 = I
A: you should be consistant with your notation
B: i dont see where im inconsistant!
A: O.o
B: and thats why i said i probably screwed up
A: I is the identity matrix right?
B: yeah
A: then what is 1? identity matrix?
B: probably just a constant

Later

A: When I go back to China.
A: I'm going to go to the bookstores
A: and stay in "Olympiad math/informatics/physics/w/e section"
A: and when I see a cute girl who is looking over olympiad math and informatic books
A: I pick her up :)
B: ohh i see
B: and how will you do that?
A: with my superior math skillz of course!
B: what if shes better than you?!
B: trick question girls cant do math
A: then I will move to the "middle school Olympiad math/informatics/physics/w/e section" instead
B: its a good plan
A: - -
A: it's a joke obviously...
A: I prefer math grad students.
B: lol

Chat log database, pidginlog

I developed a simple chat logging database from the Pidgin html log parser.
It's one of those things I put in mgccl's google codes repository.
I call it pidginlog for now.
While it is called chat log, it is intended to log IM's instead of IRC or group chat logs.

You can find the download here, or check the SVN.

If you don't get how to use it, read the code, logic should be pretty clear. This requires you to run pidgin and a PHP server on the same machine.
You also have to use cron job or other kind of schedule service to run the script once in a while to make this thing actually useful.

If you don't understand the code or have no idea of what I just talked about, chose a user friendly alternative like IM-history, Dexrex or Web Pidgin.

In the future I will make a web front end to this program...or not. phpmyadmin is powerful enough for a front end.

A chat about the future of data

I engaged in a chat with Alex Nisnevich about what will data become in the future. The point is simple. Human will be living in a world where data will be easily accessed and personalized.

(8:29:22 PM) alex.nisnevich: yo, wanna join my forum
(8:29:22 PM) alex.nisnevich: it's where all the kool kids are at
(8:30:11 PM) Mgccl: xD...no thx.. I don't believe in forums... forums are too old... I'm experimenting on the next generation of forum...
(8:30:44 PM) alex.nisnevich: forums are tried-and-true
(8:31:38 PM) Mgccl: which is like a service, user designed presentation and contribute data, owner present data. So forum mash up is possible
(8:32:08 PM) alex.nisnevich: eh
(8:32:08 PM) alex.nisnevich: i like forums
(8:32:37 PM) Mgccl: do you like mailing lists?
(8:32:50 PM) alex.nisnevich: not so much
(8:33:09 PM) Mgccl: forums are the upgrade of mailing lists... and now... it's about time something going to upgrade how forum works...
(8:33:39 PM) Mgccl: But there are too much problems people have to solve...
(8:34:10 PM) Mgccl: maybe in 3 years... I could finally see a change in forum systems...
(8:35:41 PM) Mgccl: in my POV... the biggest failure of forum are: 1. don't have liquidity 2. working against personalization 3. standard data sharing
(8:37:39 PM) alex.nisnevich: now, what the hell are you talking about?
(8:38:28 PM) Mgccl: 1. In forums, a post can not be related to more than one post. Like one post can only be a reply for another post.
(8:39:19 PM) Mgccl: 2. The user don't have absolute power on how the information are presented (flaw in almost all websites)
(8:39:19 PM) alex.nisnevich: this is ... bad?
(8:39:34 PM) Mgccl: kinda.
(8:40:06 PM) alex.nisnevich: absolute power meaning?
(8:40:32 PM) Mgccl: meaning user can have their own templates
(8:41:13 PM) Mgccl: they chose what to see, what not to see, what everything look like
(8:41:30 PM) Mgccl: 3. If someone want to transfer something from one forum to another, there is going to be a huge amount of pain due to no standard BBcode. This is best solved by XML...
(8:42:19 PM) Mgccl: The world is moving toward a state where there is ONLY information and user can retrieve any information in any way they want...
(8:42:25 PM) Mgccl: that's what mash up is all about...
(8:42:35 PM) Mgccl: RSS, XML... all of these things are made toward that goal
(8:43:13 PM) Mgccl: I don't expect I'm alive to see that day... T.T
(8:44:26 PM) Mgccl: so what's your opinion on that?
(8:44:57 PM) alex.nisnevich: eh
(8:44:57 PM) alex.nisnevich: you want too much
(8:47:14 PM) Mgccl: ...yeah... because users never thought about "hey.. I don't want information to be feed in this way, I want to access things my OWN way!" We could keep user in that way, but in the long run, there will be a day user realize that "ZOMG I don't have to take this!"
(8:47:44 PM) Mgccl: we made books into electronic data because it's more accessible.
(8:48:20 PM) Mgccl: One day forums will be made into a base of pure interlinked data, so it will be even more accessible....
(8:50:40 PM) Mgccl: in fact, one day, there will be no such thing as forums, blog, IM... because everything user output are "instant, ever lasting, interlinked, standardized, query-able data", everything user inputs are "personalized data", which is "I get what I wanted anytime, because I think about something, all data shows up about it..."
(8:51:37 PM) Mgccl: so like I think "message, 2020, june, 27, Mom", it could pop up all messages your mom said, left and stuff in that day, and you can make it personal so it's only your mom and not anyone else's mom... you can be specific and stuff...
(8:52:54 PM) Mgccl: data will be a world with unlimited dimension, and any data can be located though lots of coordinates(for example, chesses, blue, 2031, Mgccl, consume)
(8:53:22 PM) alex.nisnevich: ...
(8:53:22 PM) alex.nisnevich: you're a scary person
(8:56:29 PM) Mgccl: I didn't come out with this plan.. There is an article in business week I read sometime ago and it give me some idea about this.... and I can see the world is first moving to standardized data, then move into standardized data + personal presentation... then it moves to conversion between those standardized data, then it moves to the final part, huge world database that stores ever information a person ever creates, after that, implement the a ultimate locating system and... that's the day where I don't ever need to do anything but think what I want... there will be only one thread for a topic, it have 1000000 posts in it, but you will only see the ones that really concerns you.
(8:56:52 PM) Mgccl: think about it... NO more, NO more repeated data(except backups)!
(8:57:23 PM) alex.nisnevich: it's trippy
(8:57:23 PM) alex.nisnevich: but disturbing
(8:57:52 PM) alex.nisnevich: will there be no confidential data?
(8:58:34 PM) Mgccl: no, people own their data, they tag data with security levels, unauthorized people can not access those data...
(8:59:09 PM) alex.nisnevich: ah
(8:59:10 PM) Mgccl: and... all hackers have to be prisoned because we want this system to be stable...
(8:59:28 PM) alex.nisnevich: and thats why it'll never work
(8:59:39 PM) Mgccl: anyone who have a small attempt in breaking the system will be find and jailed...
