Facebook

Way too much Facebook usage.

Man... I have to stop.

In search for a middle name

It's a common knowledge that many China born people don't have middle names.
Sucks for me. Today I have been enlightened by someone who showed only her middle name on Facebook. I should get a cool middle name and screw my last name.(Because no one can pronounce it right and I'm sick of that happening)

I tired to use the name "Burrito" because it's easy to feed on and have lots of nutrition.

REJECTED!

It's time for a true self search and find what middle name really suits me.

Facebook can't count

This is like random stuff + thoughts of the week...

Facebook thought I was gay... They better be improving on ad marketing...
Now it believe I'm Asian. Proof:

It is correct this time, I wonder how did they know. I liked the blog too, especially this post. maybe they did analysis of my profile, and their algorithm says "Only Asian people would put mathematics and MIT in every piece of their profile."
But how can they develop such a sophisticated algorithm when they can't count? Proof:

What? how can they be 71 more people when there are only 68 people in the group?

Maybe a group can have negative people.
What are the negative people? People who goes against this group? Well this group is about my schools student government election. The candidates are to my knowledge, the best choice. Maybe there are other groups made to attract votes from this K&K group, and Facebook somehow knows.

Or, Facebook is saying, by tomorrow, there will be 71 more people in the group though the gDay™ with MATE™ Google search API.

How does Facebook know these stuff? Is Facebook that advanced? Or I'm I just been stupid not seeing the obvious algorithms. They definitely find computational power in human DNAs(happened intentionally by divide Gauss's DNA by 0) and used them.

I'm happy I'm on the news of my math class group:

My lame math pun is actually funny xD

Next year I'm not going to be in Journalism. Because I'm going to be THE NEWS1 instead of the news reporter. People are going to interview ME! I will lead Shoreham Wading-River and beat Ward Melville in Suffolk County Math Tournament, and send a email to Half Hollow Hill East's computer science team. With only one sentence to create a mega psychological impact.

I'm sorry to inform you that the winning team of this year's St. Joseph's Annual High School Programming Contest in Long Island will not be Half Hollow Hill East due to the presence of Shoreham Wading-River.

nah....I won't send the mail... it sounds too cocky.

What do you call a person racist against Chinese people?
Ricist!
haha. I invented that joke. Under GPL license.

I were was going to run for the president and stuff, I even made a battle plan2. but I was too involved in the mathematical challenges. I have to make the choice. This year there are strong candidates, the chance for me to win is way too low. But that will be quite fun, because it's going to be like Obama VS Clinton:Minority VS Women presidents.

In AP chem, every time someone says "I did everything right but the answer was wrong", I'm tempted to say "because your calculator was on degree mode."

There were people who just don't want to us RSS, I talked with them about enjoying the new technology. I tried to convince them that RSS is not just some random bloat, with my last resort.
"What's so good about RSS? when ever there is a information posted, you can see them almost in an instant without scheduling your next trip to my blog. It's like knowing that you are pregnant the moment it happens."
The result isn't that well.

My next 2 topics:
DNA computing(Going to be my long time scientific research area other than immortality and portable WMDs) and how I would fail my English essay.
A lecture analysis is due soon. If I wake up at 3 AM, I will do it, or I will forget it. Leave everything to the uncertain... bad ass style.

  1. 1. In a good way
  2. 2. The plan were obvious after reading the graph below. It come from my analysis of previous high school student president result across America in the last century. The Chinese version? Replace bribe with \frac{r^2 C(x)}{M(x)} where C(x) is student x's hour of devotion on communism, M(x) is how good he is with math, and r^2 is the square of the radice.

The return of my lost calculator + Facebook thinks I'm gay

Just great. Today I got my TI-83+ back after losing for 13 days. I am not happy about this at all. I spent all the money for TI-89 for nothing! I'm eating top ramen because I don't have money left after the purchase!
I don't know the full story, but someone in my school took it... and then it's taken by her boyfriend, then I saw him using it in chem class... so I asked, and I got my calculator back.

But I lost over $100 because someone just decide to "take" it.
I don't know what I'm suppose to think, be happy about finally it's returned, or angry about why it was ever taken away from me.

Oh the other hand, Facebook thinks I'm gay.
I was greeted with this ad when I opened my Facebook homepage.
Gay.com
Now I have to rethink about my life... what did I do made Facebook believe I'm perfect for the ad... and never do them again.
So I consulted people in Lilug

ronnote: Facebook has probably just tracked all the time you've spent looking for lesbians.
Mgccl: ....
ronnote: besides you can offer to let the girls try to convert you.
Mgccl: convert me to lesbian... hot...

Most sophisticated and dangerous Facebook spam spotted

Maybe you have seen a lot of spam on facebook. Messages and Funwall are usually where it stays. But, me, a really sophisticated person who used internet for half of my life, don't fall into spams, especially facebook messages and funwall, because with a little brain power, spam can be identified. A unknown person sending crap and funwall mass posting... ok, we get it.
But I never, ever expected facebook spam can be on my wall, the original facebook wall! Because I let my guard down, I finally fall for a spam.
This spam is not like normal spam, it's sophisticated spam. Please wait for explanation after reading my story.

Wall post:

hey... did you can almost get find anyone song available at http://got-served.com for you cell?

I will use "she" and "her" referring to the spam sending victim... for privacy sake(my blog is part of the mass media).
At first, I was a bit suspicious.
1. Initial response "What are you smoking?" The person who send it to me is the no.1 smartest kid in school, so those kind of grammar error is just.... shocking...
2. After visiting the URL, I found it redirect to another site, if I refresh, it shows another layout. The URL is a Doorway page, what spammers love to use. start to suspicious.
3. The wall post was posted at 12:24 pm today, I was with her at the AP chem class at that moment. Unless she uses her cellphone to post it, there is no other way. But seriously.. who would relies on me so much to actually use a cellphone to post a message like that?
But, I just don't believe there are something that can go into people's Facebook and post a wall post. I know no Facebook applications can do that.
So, I replied to the wall post with around 10 minutes of research across the internet.
And, to my surprise, 2 hours later, she told me that she never wrote the wall post.
I have been tricked by a spam! Nooo, that never happened in years!!! Not since the first time I clicked on a spam link!!!

After that, I start to do analysis(calculus!) on this spam.
First of all, I did some research, and found a forum post and a blog post with the same experience. The dates are really recent, so, not a lot of people noticed it yet.

Then, I wonder, how come this spam didn't get a lot people to notice, because usually, each user under the spammer's influence will send thousands of copies and...
The spammers are smart...
I'm the only person on her contact got this spam, in fact, I believe I'm the only person in my entire school got spammed.
So the spam isn't wide spread.
But why didn't the spammer send a lot? Spams like this can go maybe a few hours without wide notice, that can generated enough traffic to brighten those black hat customers' day.
Aha, on Facebook, a person can see who post on whose wall, so... 1000 same wall post can be easily spotted and suspected. "why all my friends getting the same(or similar) wall posts?"

She have over 100 friends, how come I'm the one to get the spam? is this spamming program smarter than I think?
Some hypothesis...
1. We have 29 posts on the wall to wall. the spam would assume I'm close to her and I'm more likely to pay attention to the wall post than others.
2. There are a few people with more posts on her wall... maybe it depends on how many characters are contained in total, I do write too much on walls...

This lead us to the worst possible conclusion.
Spammers are and capable to using your friends against you with a high chance of success1.
They have bring the unholy to the best social network ever...
I bet they are celebrating their success by drinking the blood of little children.

  1. 1. well...they always have been, but not on Facebook Walls
